I disagree with this. Not because I think Le Guin is saying that power never did anything good, but I don't think it's being brought into the frame here. It's been in the frame for three books; here it isn't. I think this, one, because Ogion is seeing what's coming next as much as what's been; when he says 'wait' he's talking about waiting for Ged, but also for the change that's begun in the world yet not finished. And two, because of how power is shown to be used in the book, and how power is talked about between Tenar and Ged. I think at this point it really is me seeing red when you see white, because when I try to justify this, I mostly find myself waving at the book going, 'My argument for this is... the book!' Also it probably does not help that I slept eight hours in the previous two nights combined.
