As an extremely pleasant side effect of having been reading Le Guin stories aloud to a group including Jo Walton for the last while, and conversations about how much I enjoy reading aloud, we are kickstarting an audiobook of Lifelode read by me.

It will be very exciting if this happens! Whether or not it does, it's been a spur for me to look into what the industry of audiobook narration is like, and what the advice for newcomers to it is. (A consistent piece of advice is 'Don't quit your day job', which makes my investigation of this as a potential day job to support the fiction writing for which I shouldn't quit my day job... perhaps not the most structurally sound choice. But hey, every step along the road looks interesting, for as long as it winds up also being practical.

Oh man, this is really cool! I must say I am usually not a fan of audiobooks, but your voice is quite compelling. And Lifelode works well read aloud, too -- I feel like many books don't necessarily benefit from being read aloud; some are meant to be read silently. I wonder if it's because Jo Walton also writes poetry?

...also, whoa, I would reeeeally love to hear you reading Le Guin stories, I feel like Le Guin is just made for reading out loud.

Ooh I would really love that :D I'm sorry I missed the discord readings, although tbh because I normally dislike audiobook-like things, I would probably not have realized it was something I would enjoy even had I known about them :)
